I'm Jonny Ashworth, and this is my wife Jane. In 2015, we faced a problem that thousands of van owners know too well.
I'd converted our VW Transporter into a traditional pop-top campervan - full internal kitchen, rock and roll bed, everything you'd expect. And it was brilliant for weekend surf trips with Jane and our newborn son. But the rest of the time? It sat there, taking up space, completely impractical as a daily driver or for my carpentry business.
We had to make a choice: keep the campervan and sacrifice practicality, or sell it and give up on those adventures.
Neither option felt right.
There Had To Be Another Way
As a carpenter and joiner, I started working on a concept for a removable system that converts a van or MPV into a campervan when you need it and stores away easily when you don’t. What if I could have a work van Monday through Friday, throw in a fully-functioning kitchen and king-size bed on Friday afternoon, and head off for the weekend?
After months of design and building in my garage, the first Slidepod was born.
In 2015, our now-family-of-four tested it on a month-long trip around France. We documented the trip for Campervan magazine, and something unexpected happened: people started reaching out. They wanted what I'd built.
Word spread. Soon I was working full-time from my garage, hand-building Slidepods for people who shared my vision.

Today, we've shipped Slidepods all over the world to thousands of customers. My team and I still assemble every unit by hand in our dedicated workshop in Devon, and we've held onto the principles that started this whole thing:
